February Wonderland

It had snow on Thursday, Feb 23rd and 24th in Western Washington where I live,  and until this Saturday, snow still on the ground because of the temperature stick on 31F (..0 C )...brrr...
Not that a good news for commuters, especially when the next day, snow became 'icy road' but defenetely good news for kids...making snowman just made them happy and sliding for the big kids even happier.

Batu Caves, Malaysia

Ini adalah patung dewa Murugan......dewanya umat Hindu.... Batu Caves terletak di Selangor kira-kira 13 km atau setengah jam perjalanan by bus or train dari Kuala lumpur. Patung ini setinggi 43 meter dan diyakinin sebagai patung Hindu tertinggi di dunia. (waah..Candi Prambanan kalah tinggi nich...ga apa dech yang penting ngetop juga..). Anak tangga dibelakangnya itu berjumlah 272 anak tangga menuju kuil didalam Goa. Sepanjang perjalanan anak tangga itu banyak ditemui kera-kera yang jinak dan tidak mengganggu pengunjung. waktu yang tepat untuk berkunjung ke Batu Caves adalah pas perayaan tahun baru Hindu , ada perayaan yang namanya Thaipusam
Batu Caves is a limestone hill, which has a series of caves and cave temples, located in Gombak district, 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu or Batu River, which flows past the hill. Batu Caves is also the name of the nearby village.

The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia.(Wilkipedia)

Food Exhibition In Paris - Expo Makanan Di Paris

Ini photo one of my best friend, Ms. Yayuk waktu mengunjungi Food Exhibition di kota Paris. Tempat ekspo-nya namanya CITE DES SCIENCES ET DE L''INDUSTRIE yang letaknya di 30 Avenue Corentin Cariou,75019 PARIS. (Semacam Museum untuk Sains dan Industri).

Eksibisi berlangsung dari tanggal 2 Februari 2010 sampai 2 Januari 2011, jadi udah berlalu. Meskipun semua orang bisa mengunjungi eksibisi ini tapi terutama ditujukan untuk anak anak berusia 9-14 tahun. Fokus dari expo ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa sehat konsumsi makanan sehari hari. Ada banyak booth (stand) makanan,salah satunya ya photo diatas adalah cheese booth, yang menampilkan bermacam macam keju dari susu kambing. Dua dinding dipenuhi macam macam susu, yogurt, keju atau margarine lalu diantara dinding itu ditempatkan meja meja yang dilubangi sedemikian rupa sehingga kepala kita bisa masuk dalam lubang tersebut,..I still can't imagine how this things works...ha..ha..ir's really fun!.

Food Exhibiton in Paris, there are many food booths, one of the booth is shown in a picture above, it's cheese booth, which displays various kinds of cheese from goat's milk. Two walls filled with varieties kind of milk, cheese, yogurt and margarine and there's table placed between the walls, the unique hole in the table made our head can get through the hole,...I still can't imagine how this things works..ha..ha..it's really fun!.

This exhibition at the Cité focuses on what we eat. Featuring around thirty entertaining activities, it shows youngsters how they can enjoy a balanced diet, good eating habits and happy meal times !
Exhibition co-produced with the Leonardo da Vinci Science and Technology Museum (Italy), the Huereka Science Centre (Finland) and the Technopolis Museum (Belgium). The Exhibition was from February 2nd, 2010 until January 2nd, 2011 so it's past!. It took place in CITE DES SCIENCES ET DE L''INDUSTRIE at  30 Avenue Corentin Cariou,75019 PARIS. This is one of the promotion words of this Exhibition:
Eating is one of our major preoccupations as human beings and naturally so. Barely out of the womb, newborn infants clamour for the breast or bottle. They discover the taste of fats and their first flavour, sweetness. But, once they reach adolescence, will these almost independent eaters still be capable of finding their way across the food landscape? Do they know why and what they are eating? Are they able to discover the happiness and health on the dinner plate.

Hari Minggu ini tanggal 6 Februari 2011, adalah Final pertandingan football (American Football) di Amerika Serikat, yang (akan) berlangsung di Dallas, negara bagian Texas. Mungkin American football ya terkenalnya cuma di Amerika..?..karena di seluruh dunia ini keliatannya yang lebih 'mendunia' ya soccer atau sepakbola. Sebutan untuk Final pertandingan ini adalah 'Super Bowl',..dulu waktu pertama tama jadi imigran disini, aku ya ngga mudeng, lama lama ya terbiasa kalo sudah mulai musim gugur, babak penyisihan awal antar team, tiap hari Sabtu atau Minggu jadi demam football, tahun ini Super Bowl sudah berlangsung ke 45 kali-nya, yang biasanya ditulis pake huruf romawi : XLV...(dulu waktu SD dapet pelajaran angka romawi gini paling sebel..!),..kenapa harus ditulis pake angka romawi..?, katanya sich untuk mengidentifikasi tiap 'game'..(nach..tetep ngga mudeng khan?..)

...it's February 1st, 2011 already...and this lonely 'seagull' (maybe he's not lonely..LoL) ..is in lovely Commencement Bay,...might waiting for his lovely Valentine...Happy lovely February....full of love and compassion. Peace to the World.
Ini burung Camar, gemuk banget dech..!...pasti makan terus, walopun bertengger deket seafood restoran, ga mungkin pengunjung kasih makan ini do'i, soalnya di Amrik, kita dilarang kasih makan ke 'wildlife' animals gini...katanya malah bisa mengganggu ekosistem...ya udah,..make sense dech!
